Art Exhibition

On Wednesday 27th June we held the private view for our annual art exhibition celebrating our GCSE and A level students’ hard work.  The department was transformed into a gallery space with a backdrop of live music provided by our school music students.  A few refreshments were served in the recently transformed “herb garden”.   All this was enjoyed by students and parents from all year groups and it was lovely to also see some of our past students, who had gone on to study art at degree level, returning to view our exhibition.  All in all the private view was a great success, with comments including, “One night is not long enough”.

The exhibition has been kept open all week to allow access to all students; many of the lower school have also experienced a “gallery visit” during their art lessons, something which they have thoroughly enjoyed.  Indeed one visitor remarked, “I think your imaginative response to using the exhibition as a learning tool for the lower years is inspired …”

A huge thank you goes out to the art team who, along with our year 12 students, worked tirelessly in order to get this up and running.  A massive WELL DONE to our art students for creating such a diverse and stunning assortment of work.

Dates of upcoming gallery visits:

Year 12 art and photography trip to the Henry Moore Foundation – Tuesday 10th July 2012.
